Everything you need to know about Invisalign

Have you heard of Invisalign? Or has your dentist recommended Invisalign to straighten your crooked or misaligned teeth?

Invisalign is one of the most common and effective ways to straighten teeth and definitely one of the most common orthodontic services we offer here at The Practice.

Let’s take a deeper look at Invisalign – here’s everything you need to know.

Reasons you might need Invisalign

The dentists at The Practice might recommend Invisalign if you have:

  • Crooked or misaligned teeth.
  • Overcrowding.
  • Too many spaces between your teeth.
  • An overbite or underbite.
  • Top front teeth that protrude.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that uses clear aligners to adjust the position of your teeth without the use of metal or wires.

During Invisalign treatment you will be supplied a series of trays that over time make slight adjustments to the position of your teeth. This process is planned in advance by your dentist and every two weeks you will move onto the next series of clear aligners.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to the amount of time your Invisalign treatment will last, it depends on the individual. Treatment can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months or longer.

Who is Invisalign suitable for?

Many patients ask us if Invisalign is suitable for adults, and the answer is yes! Invisalign is suitable for adults who want to straighten their teeth and for children once their baby teeth have fallen out and adult teeth are through.

Benefits of Invisalign aligners:

They are virtually invisible

Many people feel self-conscious about traditional braces, so Invisalign offers a great solution as they are completely clear and hardly noticeable. They will be custom made to fit your mouth perfectly.

Invisalign are more comfortable than traditional braces

While traditional braces are known to be a little uncomfortable, Invisalign draws upon a different process to straighten your teeth. It may take a few days to get used to the pressure, but most people don’t feel any discomfort while wearing Invisalign.

Eat what you want

Invisalign aligners are removable, but to be effective they need to be kept in for a minimum 22 hours a day. This means you can take them out when eating and drinking and you can continue to eat the foods you love.

Oral hygiene is vital when you have Invisalign aligners

After you eat and drink anything but water, it’s important to thoroughly clean your teeth and maintain a high standard of oral hygiene. You should brush and floss your teeth while your aligners are out and pop them back in as soon as you’re finished.

Invisalign isn’t suitable for everyone

It’s important to remember that Invisalign isn’t suitable for everyone. At The Practice our dentists will perform a thorough examination to determine if you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign aligners. If you aren’t, we will recommend an alternative treatment plan.

How much will Invisalign cost?

The price of Invisalign will depend upon the complexity of your individual case. At The Practice you will have an idea of costs after the initial consultation with our dentist.

We also have flexible payment options available, including ZipPay, ZipMoney and AfterPay, allowing you to pay the Invisalign treatment off over time.
